Sahar Maher El-Issawi is an Egyptian journalist, blogger, trainer and activist who participated in the 2011 protests in Cairo. She played a leadership role in the high-profile campaign to free Maikel Nabil Sanad, the first Egyptian blogger arrested by the Egyptian military following the Revolution, and was detained in October 2011 for protesting on his behalf outside a military court. Sahar will share her experiences and her perspective on the role social media has played in the Egyptian context.
