    Robert Ricigliano, PhD: Expert on International Relations and Negotiation will lead a skill-building session in negotiation at the beginning of the Seminar

    Robert RiciglianoRob Ricigliano is the Director of Institute of World Affairs, and the Peace Studies Program at the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee where he teaches International Mediation and Negotiation through the Department of Communication. He has worked most recently on the peace process in the Democratic Republic of Congo and has been involved in peacebuilding interventions in Russia, Georgia, Colombia, South Africa, and elsewhere. Mr. Ricigliano served on the first U.S. team ever to teach negotiation at the Soviet Foreign Ministry's Diplomatic Academy in Moscow and has trained diplomats and other government officials from Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America. He has developed core programs in diplomatic and governmental negotiation, preventive diplomacy, and inter-group conflict management. In a wide variety of corporate settings, Mr. Ricigliano has done consulting, mediation, and training in negotiation, creating a value-based client relationship, and managing difficult conversations. Mr. Ricigliano was a founding board member of the Alliance for International Conflict Prevention and Resolution, a consortium of leading conflict resolution NGOs and academic centers. He served as Executive Director of the Conflict Management Group and was Associate Director of the Harvard Negotiation Project at Harvard Law School. His writings on negotiation and peace processes include Networks of Effective Action: Implementing a Holistic Approach to Peacebuilding, Cold War, Redux: A Critique of and Alternative to the War on Terrorism, The Choardic Peace Process, and Supporting the Peace Process in the DRC: A Track 1.5 Facilitation Effort. His J.D. is from the Harvard Law School and his B.A. from Hamilton College.

    Rear Admiral Joseph P. Aucoin, Director of Programming, US Navy: "The Impact of Communications Technology on Global Security." Admiral Aucoin holds a Master's degree in National Security Studies and Strategic Affairs from the Naval War College, and a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard University. He is also an Arthur S. Moreau Scholar and has a Bachelor of Science from North Carolina State University in Electrical Engineering. A Naval Flight Officer with over 4,700 hours, initially in the F-14 Tomcat. Admiral Aucoin has more than 1,300 carrier-arrested landings. In addition, during his 32+ years in the Navy he has served as deputy director, Air Warfare, head, Maritime Unmanned Aircraft Systems, Aviation Training Plans and Programming, and Joint Staff, Avaiation Strike Warfare Requirements. Admiral Aucoin was Commanding Officer of VF-41 Black Aces aboard USS Kennedy and Theodore Roosevelt, Commander Carrier Air Wing 5 aboard USS Kitty Hawk forward deployed to Japan,

    Rear Admiral Joseph P. Aucoin

    Rear Adm. Aucoin assumed command of Director, Programming Division, N80, in July 2011. He most recently served as commander, Carrier Strike Group Three.

    He graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and received his commission through the University of North Carolina Naval Reserves Officer Training Corps program in 1980. He was designated a naval flight officer in 1981 and reported to Fighter Squadron (VF) 101 for initial training in the F-14 Tomcat.

    Aucoin served with VF-33 “Tarsiers” embarked aboard USS America (CV 66); VF-101 as an instructor; VF-84 “Jolly Rogers” embarked aboard USS Nimitz (CVN 68); and, VF-41 “Black Aces” embarked aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 71). He served as Carrier Air Wing 8 operations officer embarked aboard Theodore Roosevelt, and returned to VF-41 as commanding officer embarked aboard USS Kennedy (CV 67) and Theodore Roosevelt. He commanded Carrier Air Wing 5 forward deployed in Japan and embarked aboard USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63).

    Ashore, he has served on the Program Planning and Development Branch (N801), OPNAV staff; Programming and Budget Division (PBAD), J8, Joint Staff; Aviation Strike Warfare Requirements (N880); head, Program Planning and Development Branch (N801); head, Maritime, Unmanned Aircraft Systems, Aviation Training Plans and Programs (N882), and deputy director, Air Warfare (N88B).

    Aucoin has accumulated more than 4,700 hours and more than 1,300 carrier-arrested landings. His personal awards include the Silver Star, the Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross with V and Bronze Stars. He is an Arthur S. Moreau Scholar and holds master’s degrees in Public Administration from Harvard University and in National Security Studies and Strategic Affairs from the Naval War College.

    Charlotte Bernard, Attorney - International Law: Explains international communications law in context of the impact of quickly emerging technologies, with particular emphasis on the Mid-East.  Attorney Bernard lived and practiced in Egypt and other mid-east countries, and currently works with businesses with dealings with companies in countries around the world on legal matters.   

    Greanleaf Center for Servant Leadership Board member Richard Pieper (Chairman, Pieper Power) has committed to providing a speaker on Servant Leadership.
